Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts
& Accessories Manufacturers
(PAAPAM) was formed in 1988 to
represent the industry and to provide technical & management support
to its members. PAAPAM is now over two decades old and, over the
years, this association has attained a certain level of maturity by
becoming an indispensable and extremely effective link between the
policy-making echelons in the government and the auto parts
manufacturing industry. The Association achieved recognition from the
Government of Pakistan in 1999 and today it is represented on many
Government and semi-government NGOs and committees as well as Private
Institutions by its members. PAAPAM is also a member of the Federal of
Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI).
With a registered membership base of
over 278 “tier one” parts manufacturers out of over 1200 industries,
PAAPAM has under its wings part makers of Cars, Motorcycles, Tractors,
Trucks and Buses, who represent multinational companies of repute,
including Toyota, Honda, Suzuki, Hino, Nissan, Hyundai,etc. Investments
in place in the industry now exceed US$ 1.5 billion.

PAAPAM’s mission is to
build a competitive edge in the local automotive parts industry by
maximizing local content and by creating an environment which is
conducive to innovation & rapid modernization and is in sync with
latest Research and Development.
Vision:
PAAPAM’s vision is to
emerge as a strategically viable indigenized source of supply of
automotive parts through maximization of local content and by meeting
the industry norms of quality, price and delivery.
PAAPAM organise Pakistan’s biggest auto event named Pakistan Auto Parts
Show (PAPS) every two year inspiring young generation towards the
automobile industry.
Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM) holds
Pakistan Auto Show 2013 at the Expo Centre,
Karachi, from January 11 to 13, which showcased the achievements of
Pakistan’s automotive industry and auto parts manufacturing sectors.To held Pakistan Auto Show, Paapam hired
Petrol Solution (Event Managment Company) to manage this mega event.
“This mega event was visited by a large
number of visitors and buyers from around the world, while over 150
multinational and national companies displayed their products at the
exhibition,” said
PAAPAM
Chairman Munir k. Bana, said that this
Pakistan Auto Show 2013 would be a thoroughfare of the true engineering and
manufacturing diversity of Pakistani companies, thus providing an
opportunity to forge new alliances and business ventures. He also called
upon the government to play a part in organising such mega exhibitions,
adding that this show has been financed wholly by PAAPAM and the
automobile industry themselves.
The Chairman of PAAPAM strongly
urged the government to ensure adequate and exclusive export promotions
for the engineering sector.
“We expect that the Trade Development
Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) would support our initiatives, both
locally and abroad, as these efforts are geared towards our national
interest, with the aim of promoting exports and introducing new
technologies,” Bana said.
In Pakistan, the local industry
assembles cars, motorcycles, tractors and heavy vehicles such as trucks
and buses and also hosts major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs)
such as Toyota, Honda, Suzuki and Massey Ferguson.
PAAPAM vice
chairman Usman Malik added that Germany, with the collaboration of its
government agencies, holds the world’s largest auto exhibition every
year. In this exhibition, only a dozen companies participate from
Pakistan, while hundreds of firms display their products from our
neighbouring countries. Malik further said that with the steady growth
in the automotive parts manufacturing industry in the region,
PAPS 2013
played a crucial role in the economic development of Pakistan’s
automobile-related market, both locally and internationally. The Pakistan Auto Show has become a perfect place to approach a potential buyer and meet existing
customers, he underlined.
Pakistan Auto Show 2013 began here at the Karachi Expo
Centre on previous. Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, adviser to the prime minister
on textile while inaugurating the show said that the automotive
industry is successfully producing International standard and brands of
cars, motorcycles and tractors, according to statement.
There were 3,200 units of automotive industry with the investment of
Rs92 billion, employing 1.8 million people and producing annually 1.8
million motorcycles and 200,000 vehicles, he said.
The auto-part Industry is generating exports of Rs128 million with huge potential, said Baig.
Pakistan possesses huge potential to become a manufacturing and
exporting hub of the auto industry for renowned original equipment
manufacturers (OEMs) of the world.
The support of local automobile companies and the auto-part vendors has
attained excellence in some fields at par with the global standard but
there is a room for further development for vendors to scale up their
production with the cutting edge technology and emerging trends in the
international automobile market.
